 Kurukshetra


Kurukshetra is a historical city and district in the state of Haryana. It is situated in the north of Haryana and is surrounded by Ambala, 

Yamuna Nagar, Karnal and Kaithal. It is believed that the battle of Mahabharata took place here and Lord Krishna preached the Gita to Arjuna here at a place called Jyotisar. The district is also famous for the production of Basmati rice.

 It is said that the huge pond located here was built by King Kuru, the ancestor of Kauravas and Pandavas mentioned in the epic Mahabharata.

 The name Kurukshetra signifies 'the field of Kuru'. The mythological significance of Kurukshetra is considered more. It has been described in many places in Rigveda and Yajurveda.

 The mythological river Saraswati is also of great importance here. Apart from this, it has been described in detail in many Puranas, Smritis, and Mahabharata composed by Maharishi Vedavyas. 

The special fact is that the mythological boundary of Kurukshetra is considered to be 48 kos, which includes the areas of Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat and Jind in addition to Kurukshetra.

Panipat is also famous since ancient times. Three world wars were fought here, the first world war was fought between Babur and Ibrahim Lodi in 1526 AD, and the second world war was fought between Akbar and Hemu in 1556 AD.

 The Third World War was fought between Ahmad Shah Abdali and the Marathas in 1761 AD. Babur won the First World War, Akbar won the Second World War, and Ahmad Shah Abdali won the Third World War.

Badkhla Lake

Suraj Kund

This place is also known as a tourist centre. Due to its close proximity to Delhi, its utility as a tourist destination increases. Which was built by Surajpal, son of Tomar king Anangpal in 686 AD.

 Nowadays it has become a ruin. A handicrafts fair is held here every year. Due to not being much distance from Delhi, it is a suitable place for tourists.


Baba Farid Gumbad Faridabad

Faridabad is named after Baba Farid. Faridabad is an attractive tourist destination. The tomb of Baba Farid also remains here. 

The local people have great faith in it. Many devotees come every day to worship in the tomb.


Ambakeshwar Mahadev Temple Kaithal

According to the historical mention, Prithviraj Chauhan's army had camped at this place at the time of the war with Mohammad Gauri and this temple was renovated by the Raja of Shilakheda. 

According to a legend, the Muslims had also tried to break the Shivling in the Ambakeshwar temple, but it is said that when they attacked it, blood came out of the Shivling, seeing which the Muslims were frightened.

 Even today, the marks of the attack can be seen on this Shivling. In the Ambakeshwar temple itself, there is also a life-size statue of Ambika i.e. Kali Devi.


star monument

The attractive star monument is the treasure of the state of Haryana. Situated in Dinaud, 12 km from Bhiwani, this memorial has been built on the tomb of Param Sant Hazur Tara Chand Ji Maharaj. 

The shape of this building is like a star and it is built in the name of Maharajji. This samadhi is 101 feet in the Radhasoami Satsang Bhawan complex and it is built on a six feet high platform.


The Star Monument is a hexagonal pyramidal structure with three alternate sides made of white marble and the other three of blue Italian glass, which is completely weather resistant. 

The surprising thing in this is that there are no pillars or columns to support this entire building. There are twinkling of stars on and inside the three walls of the samadhi. 

There is an idol of Maharajji near the west wall. On the six corners of the samadhi, there are six paintings related to the life of Maharajji. Traditional technology has been used for ventilation here.
